Where We Are

The Marina district is one of Cagliari’s four historic districts.

It is located at the foot of the Castle and faces the city port. A cluster of buildings, churches, and port warehouses, the district has retained its historic character. Marina is characterized by its tradition, which can be found in its many typical restaurants and shops, and by its historically multi-ethnic population.

The district dates back to the Roman era, making it rich in historical, primarily religious, sites of interest.

It is located in the centre of the city, a stone’s throw from the shopping streets. The district is full of places where you can taste the traditional and revisited specialities of Cagliari culture.

Marina is a short distance from the railway station which offers an alternative to the taxi for travelling to and from the airport and is located a few kilometres from the city. Furthermore, the district is close to the stops for taking long-distance regional buses to the famous Poetto beach and beyond.

By aeroplane

Cagliari-Elmas airport is the main airport in southern Sardinia and is located just 7 kilometres from the city centre.

By ferry

To reach Cagliari by ferry, you can take advantage of maritime connections from various Italian ports such as Rome Civitavecchia, Palermo and Naples.

By car

If you are travelling from other cities in Sardinia, you can take the SS131, the island's main road artery, which connects the main towns of the island.
