The Marina district is one of Cagliari’s four historic districts.
It is located at the foot of the Castle and faces the city port. A cluster of buildings, churches, and port warehouses, the district has retained its historic character. Marina is characterized by its tradition, which can be found in its many typical restaurants and shops, and by its historically multi-ethnic population.
The district dates back to the Roman era, making it rich in historical, primarily religious, sites of interest.
It is located in the centre of the city, a stone’s throw from the shopping streets. The district is full of places where you can taste the traditional and revisited specialities of Cagliari culture.
Marina is a short distance from the railway station which offers an alternative to the taxi for travelling to and from the airport and is located a few kilometres from the city. Furthermore, the district is close to the stops for taking long-distance regional buses to the famous Poetto beach and beyond.
